Robert Castle has combined the practices and theories of Konstantin Stanislavski, “Method” acting and a variety of other
techniques from around the world in order to create a vibrant theatrical art for the new century. Throughout his career as
actor, director and teacher, he has worked with such modern icons as Sean Penn, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Pfeiffer, Brooke
Shields, Jane Fonda and Charles Durning, trained many international celebrities and produced and collaborated in numerous
landmark productions both in New York and abroad.
As artistic director of International Theatre New York, Robert values the importance of an artistic cultural exchange.
His workshops throughout Europe have generated such popularity that many students, after one workshop, continue with
Robert to the new workshop in the next city. This phenomenon grew from the desire people have for Robert and his unique
training style. There is simply no method like this being taught throughout Europe. Nor in a way where the school can come
to the student in such an intimate setting, rather than the student to the school.
It is Robert’s desire to continue to increase this availability, to all students, in all of Europe. As IT New York has
experienced, there are great benefits to be made, by both communities, from European collaborations. This is also a
principal Robert likes to emphasize to his students; a diverse cultural exploration is a necessity for any actor to continue to
grow.
For more than 20 years Robert has guided generations of actors, all over the world, in discovering the true Method
approach to acting. Through his intensive 10-day workshops he catapults both beginner and advanced actors to new levels;
developing creative and dynamic work, and providing them with the tools to be both inspired and inspiring. For four years,
his workshops have been celebrated throughout Paris, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Berlin, Sao Paolo, Oslo, Barcelona,
Copenhagen, Munich, Milan, Stockholm, and more.
Continuing the work of Stanislavski, Strasberg, and others, and imparting his own innovative techniques, Robert’s
workshops and training help to constantly bring the art to new heights.

The uniqueness of the training and it’s impact is not as easily explained as is experienced:
“I learned a lot more during the three-week workshop than I had during the year of my previous training in Paris which
was very good I have to say. I, and I was not the only one, followed him even to Copenhagen because I didn't want this great
experience to end.”
--Stanislava Stoyanova, Paris
“Robert is capable of revealing and activating secret power and strength in an actor that the actor might not even have
suspected in him/her self. He gave me treasures and encouraged me to be the artist that I am deep inside when all the
fears and doubts are pushed aside. He really enriched my acting and my life, for he gives me strength as an artist,
overwhelming personal breakthroughs and a strong confidence in my work which nobody can take from me because I
EXPERIENCED it.”
--Katharina Maas, Berlin
“I had Robert as a teacher not only in the two workshops in Berlin and Paris, but I also took his classes at Strasberg for
about 9 months and additionally took some Shakespeare classes at his studio as well. I am able to see what the results are,
not only for me, but also for a lot of people that I saw work in his classes. I prefer to do a workshop with Robert, wherever
it is, and invest myself completely. You need someone who guides you the right way, and you need to feel free enough to
stumble and fall and then get up and try again.”
--Anja Bourdais, Paris
“I am now experiencing tremendous freedom in my acting, the whole process of how to approach a character, how to
work with it in rehearsal, how to explore the atmosphere and your fellow actors and I owe many great thanks to Robert
Castle’s guidance for this. I find him the best acting teacher I have ever had because of his ability to take people and help
them grow from where they are individually.”
--Trine Stårup Madsen, Copenhagen
"What I liked most about the workshop was the honesty of Robert's coaching method; the thoroughness of each
exercise; as well as the time spent discovering how to make it my own..."
--Cheryl Tanner, U.S.A
“After experiencing several acting classes, and several techniques with different French and American teachers, I found
with Robert’s workshop a new experience, a sort of epiphany: I was simply amazed, challenged, entertained and boosted.”
--Aurelie Fournier-Harp, France
